Abstract

This paper proposes a 6–18 GHz LTCC multifunction heterodyne transceiver architecture. To meet the multifunctional application and improve the rejection of spurious signals, four types of micro-acoustic bandpass filter (BPF) chips including the narrowband surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter, the wideband SAW filter and the C-band bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter are designed, fabricated and integrated into the transmit (TX) and receive (RX) chains. The proposed transceiver module has been fabricated by the low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) process. The transceiver module has a compact size of 22×15×3 mm3, including four independent frequency conversion channels with a RX gain of more than 20 dB and a TX output power of more than 11 dBm.
