Abstract
Results obtained with 50- mu s dispersion, 5-MHz bandwidth pulse compression subsystem using linear FM with frequency relatively low TB product are presented. To generate the transmit signal, a high-performance digital chirp system is developed. The compression section is made from a metallic reflective array compressor (RAC) device cascaded with a surface acoustic wave (SAW) equalizer on quartz. The equalizer is designed to compensate for the RAC imperfections using accurate SAW device analysis models. The experimental results exhibit a sidelobe level lower than -60 dB. >
