Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death for women in developing world and it is a preventable cancer, if precancerous lesions are identified early and treated promptly. India accounts for nearly one-third of the global cervical cancer deaths, with women facing a 1.6% cumulative risk of developing cervical cancer and 1.0% cumulative death risk from cervical cancer. This high incidence of deaths in India is mainly due to its detection in advanced stage.
