Abstract
AbstractMicroscopic model calculations for core‐level spectra of U compounds are presented. The consequences of strong intra‐atomic correlations within the 5f shell are analyzed. The formation of atomic multiplets leads to a re‐distribution of spectral weight. The results suggest that the orbital‐selective localization resulting from strongly anisotropic renormalization of the hybridization between 5f‐ and conduction electrons should be reflected in the line shapes.
