Abstract
The current military pilot training system in the UK is struggling to train the required number of pilots economically and to the standard needed by military operations. Several factors are crippling the training including unrealistic training aircraft and a fragmented training structure.Currently there has only been limited structured analysis into pilot training, the current system has blindly evolved from cold war tactics/aircraft and is struggling to adapt to a changing worldThis paper presents a fresh approach to military training by understanding the base requirements and the effect of the changing environment over the medium term (10‐20 years).
