Abstract

Catalytic asymmetric CC bond-forming reactions via cross-coupling reactions using palladium and nickel complexes of various phosphorus- and nitrogen-based chiral ligands, which achieve high enantiomeric selectivity, are described. Grignard, zinc, and boron reagents and aryl halides have been well investigated as nucleophilic and electrophilic reagents, respectively, in asymmetric cross-coupling reactions and cover the main part of this chapter. Recent progress in the asymmetric cross-coupling of sodium enolates with various aryl and alkenyl halides will also be presented, as well as the latest results for α-halocarbonyl compounds with various alkyl metals, including aliphatic alkyl metals.
