Abstract

Nanoscience and nanotechnology are grounded on the truth that the nano world is dissimilar from the macroscopic world, in which we are comfortable to work. As the particle size of materials decrease, surface-to-volume ratio effects become dominant and quantum effects comes into picture, which is responsible to change in physicochemical characteristics of materials and device performance. Sometimes these variations in physicochemical characteristics are full of merits and demerits. Therefore, this chapter is dedicated to studying the effect of particle size and shape on the optoelectronics properties of Zinc Telluride (ZnTe). Before studying the size and shape effect, first we must understand some facts associated with optoelectronics devices and ZnTe.
