Abstract

The laser provides a manufacturing tool that has become indispensable in the manufacturing of medical and related devices. The precision, repeatability and scale required in the manufacture of medical devices maps wholly on to the domain and advantages of lasers as manufacturing tools. This chapter will review a range of laser processes applicable to the manufacture of a range of medical devices, from the tools of clinicians to the consumables of medical practice and ultimately to lifesaving implants.
