Abstract

Alan Turing, who is considered the father of artificial intelligence (AI), created the Turing machine in 1936. John McCarthy coined the term artificial intelligence in 1956 as a subset of computer science. The General Motors assembly line in New Jersey was the first to use Unimate, an industrial robot, invented by George Devol in the 1950s. Subsequently, intelligent agents (also known as bots or virtual digital assistants), machine learning, and deep learning were developed, which led to numerous advances in AI technology. Currently, deep learning is the newest development in AI.
