Abstract
ERCP has evolved to a predominantly therapeutic procedure, where decisions regarding interventions need to be made immediately. Over time, radiology support during ERCP has declined. Radiologists are now rarely present during the procedure and typically ‘post read' saved spot films that cannot guide decision-making during this dynamic test. We and others previously reported in the era of paper charts that radiologist post-reads of ERCP films were subject to significant errors. With the advent of electronic medical records (EMR), radiologists have access to the endoscopy reports (ER) if the ER is online before the radiologist reads the films. This study was undertaken to evaluate discrepancies between endoscopists' dynamic reading of fluoroscopic images and spot films and radiologists' post reading (RR) of spot films and to compare results between the paper record (PR) and EMR eras.
