Abstract
Combining a vertically aligned polarizer and a liquid crystal cell, a switchable view control filter is implemented, that on demand, changes the transmission for designated view angle areas between a high transmission and low transmission state, referred to as private and public modes of operation. The feasibility of the switchable view control concept is confirmed via simulations and measurements.
