Abstract

In 2013, the NYC Poison Control Center (PCC) was consulted for a 23-year-old man who presented to a local emergency department (ED) with severe alcohol intoxication. Despite rapid intervention, he suffered traumatic and anoxic brain injury. This case prompted a discussion. What is the role of emergency providers in preventing such cases?
