Abstract

The functions of private security and public law enforcement often overlap, and the relationship between security and law enforcement is usually one of mutual respect and cooperation at the investigative and administrative levels. Focusing on this relationship at the investigative and administrative levels, this chapter analyzes what the public sector does to assist the private sector and vice versa. The controversy surrounding law enforcement and legal decisions on the individual’s right to privacy is also discussed.
