Abstract

OCD is a chronic debilitating condition characterized by the presence of obsessions and/or compulsions that are time consuming and cause distress. Lifetime prevalence of OCD is 1% to 3%, and 50% to 80% of the cases of OCD occur before 18 years of age. The purpose of the current systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the efficacy of SSRIs in forms of monotherapy or in combination treatment with CBT for the management of OCD in adolescents and children and to compare the effectiveness of different SSRIs.
