Abstract
This chapter provides a quick reference to some of the key information sites and resources relating to wireless networking, where the latest information on the status and further developments of the various standards can be followed. The general-information sources include standards organizations such as IEEE Wireless Standards Zone and several resources such as Wireless Net Design Line, Wireless Design Online, Wireless Networking Tutorials, and Wireless Technology Information. Wireless personal area network (PAN) resources by standard—Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1), Wireless USB, ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4), IrDA, FireWire (IEEE 1394), Near Field Communications (NFC)—are discussed in the chapter. Wireless local area network (LAN) resources by standard—Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11), Wireless Mesh (IEEE 802.11s), and HiperLAN/2 (ETSI)—are also presented in the chapter.
