Abstract

There may not be any significant changes in the last 10 years on the structure and properties of carpet and fibre yarns. This chapter is an updated version and deals with the major natural and man-made fibres suitable for making carpets and rugs. More emphasis has been on the engineering of wool carpet yarns. A comparison of the different methods of making carpet yarns is highlighted. A topic has been added on the future trends of rugs and hand-knotted carpets.
