Abstract
Carbon nanotubes are promising materials for nanoelectronics and NEMS. To construct nano devices with nanotube-based building blocks, it is necessary to modify the structures of nanotubes. Here we show destructive fabrications of multiwalled nanotubes can be realized through either mechanical strain or electrical breaking down via nanorobotic manipulations. Several nano devices have been constructed including a nanotube bearing and scissors.
