Abstract

This Singer-songwriter is a compound word of singer and songwriter, meaning 'a singer who lyrics and composes songs to sing.' Singer-songwriter, known as a minstrel poet, plays the role of a producer who is in charge of writing and composing lyrics and the role of a performer who sings and plays songs directly. Therefore, compared to ordinary professional singers, they have a more independent attitude and authoristic attitude, and their works contain creativity, authenticity and identity.
In this paper, a study was conducted on the music of Korean singer-songwriter in the 1970s, when the value system was embodied with a sense of writing. Singer-songwriter in the 1970s studied what they tried to sing, how they conveyed meaning to the audience, and how they listened to their songs and responded. This paper is meaningful in re-establishing the concept of singer-songwriter terms that were used inconsistently and analyzing musical works along with singer-songwriter activities in Korean popular music history.
