Abstract

AbstractSome key factors for the addressing electronic of plasma display panels are the reduction of power consumption and the control of EMI emissions during driver switching. An usual solution to decrease the power dissipation is to use a AC power supply based on a L, C resonant approach. The STV7801S is the first IC that integrates all the components necessary to implement a resonant AC power supply to drive the columns of a PDP. This circuit is commonly named DPS for Data Power Switch. With an external inductance, the STV7801S circuit charges and discharges the PDP column capacitance to recover over 80% of the energy normally lost in driving the panel capacitance with DC power supply.
