Abstract

Sexual minority adults often have worse health indicators (e.g., alcohol use, cigarette smoking, disordered weight control behaviors [DWCB]) than heterosexuals, with the exact pattern varying by sexual orientation and gender. Emerging research suggests maternal comfort with sexual minorities during adolescence is associated with better health indicators, but it is unclear if this association lasts into adulthood.
