Abstract

Methods • Retrospective collected HIV-related clinical data of adult patients initiated on ART between January 1st, 2010 and December 31st, 2012 at the ISS clinic, Mbarara (Uganda). Censored on March 31st, 2013. • Hypertension was defined as occurrence of ≥2 consecutive clinical visits with a systolic BP ≥140mmHg and/or diastolic BP ≥ 90mmHg, or record of use of an antihypertensive medication. Background Antiretroviral therapy has increased life expectancy for people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, the risk of hypertension in this population is unknown.
