Abstract

In this paper, two applications of the laser measurement technology (LDV & PDA) to improve and evaluate the manufacturing equipment, the spray forming and the gas wiping method for continuous hot-dip coating, are described. In the spray forming method, the measurement of velocity and diameter distribution of the sprayed particles that influence the preform density and the uniformity of products, respectively, gives us early diagnostic information. In the gas wiping method, the evaluation of the two-dimensional jet velocity distribution that influences the coating quality is successfully carried out. As a result, the laser measurement technology contributes to the quality improvement of our products.
