Abstract

The purpose of carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is to reduce carbon emissions from various industrial processes. For new coal plants, like the Ultra-Supercritical Pulverized Coal Power Plants (USPC) and Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC), carbon emissions are a major environmental and political concern. Currently, implementation of CCUS is not economically feasible for widespread commercial deployment, as the installation of CCUS technologies adversely affects the thermal efficiency and therefore, the cost of power generation.
