Abstract

SUMMARY The study reported in this paper concerns the influence of the opening-roller speed on the hairiness of cotton open-end-spun yarns for various values of the applied twist multiplier. The yarns analysed were processed through four different pre-spinning procedures, and hairiness was measured by means of the I.T.Q.T. Digital Hairiness Tester. The opening-roller speed does not influence yarn hairiness to a significant extent, but trends demonstrated in previous papers concerning the influence on yarn hairiness of the rotor diameter, the pre-spinning processes, and the twist are confirmed.
