Abstract

In patients presenting with shortness of breath, the diagnosis of acute heart failure requires accurate volume assessment. Bioimpedance vector analysis (BIVA) is a non-invasive method to quantify volume status, with low values being associated with volume overload, and can be performed within 60 seconds. We sought to determine if BIVA measurements are associated with volume overload in ED patients presenting with shortness of breath.
