Abstract

The issues of environmental pollution and climate change have become an international concern due to their effects to the physical and biologic entities of the environment. Therefore, this work implements internet of things (IoT) techniques to create a database system and to identify the environmental pollution sources for indoor and outdoor environments. The proposed method in this research has been applied through use of IoT technology. This method uses the fundamental characteristics of the IoT to gather daily readings of environmental pollution and to detect any particular sources of air pollution in a specific monitoring station. This research includes the hardware/software platform with the Arduino hardware development that is designed to calibrate airborne particulates for indoor and outdoor environments, carbon monoxide, and other forms of air pollution. The identified monitoring station location is linked with the IoT in specific types of web forms. The established database is designed to contain different names of identified locations and descriptions of monitoring stations, including pollution index readings and set up time using a data collection graph. This method is designed specifically to monitor air pollution. The result indicates to establish a system for comprehensive database readings and air pollution tracking that can help to improve and protect the environment and air quality and to reduce pollution significantly.
