Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive job analysis of entry-level 3D Modeler roles and subsequently develop a standardized vocational training program. This program is designed to meet the needs of students pursuing career technical education, with the dual purpose of cultivating essential skills and providing a well-defined career path.
 Methods To achieve this, a DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) job analysis workshop was conducted with 5 industry experts. The job analysis outcomes were validated by experts who did not participate in the DACUM workshop. Then industry experts were engaged to develop a standard vocational training program. The program's feasibility and suitability were verified by two vocational training instructors currently teaching 3D modeling at vocational training institutions.
 Results The job analysis yielded a definition of the entry-level 3D Modeler role, along with corresponding duties and tasks. The 3D Modeler role involves four duties (modeling element analysis, modeling, task management, and task inspection) and a total of 16 tasks were identified under these duties. In addition, a standard vocational training program (500 hours) and a career path was developed to facilitate continuous career growth after entering the workforce.
 Conclusions This study comprehensively analyzes 3D modeling roles, establishes a standardized training program and career path, aiding career technical education students and guiding schools and vocational training institutions.
