Abstract

Damage of near leading edge and shroud of 2SUPnd/SUP vane which exposed to high temperature is occurred. In this study, the effect of shroud fillet size was analyzed. The internal flow passage, external flow passage and 2SUPnd/SUP vane were modeled for conjugate numerical simulations. The 5mm fillet size was the basic shape and 3mm and 7mm fillet size were compared. The flow, heat transfer and thermal stress characteristics were compared. The 7mm fillet size case showed the reduced occurrence of secondary vortex. Furthermore, the heat transfer distribution was decreased and non-uniformity was also decreased in 7mm fillet size case. As a result, the maximum thermal stress was reduced 14%. Therefore, if the fillet size is increased on the shroud of 2SUPnd/SUP vane, the maximum thermal stress is reduced which results in increase of life time of 2SUPnd/SUP vane.
