Abstract

This diplomatic thesis concerns the research field of project management in computer science. Analyzed the field of project administration and his definitions. Analyzed the definition of project management, the project triangle (cost, time, quality), the importance of resources and constraints in a project, the project team — stakeholders, project risks and problems. Referenced to Project Management Methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, PMI, PM2) and their management tools. An important question raised is how project management methodologies are followed in the information systems in the public administration. The computer projects, project stages and problems encountered in the past and the efforts of the government of the public organizations and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue to adopt the new methodologies are described. Also there are examples of good practical projects for Greece and abroad. A qualitative survey is carried out with interviews by employees which specializing in the project management of IT projects in the public administration and in the Independent Authority for Public Revenue. The questions raised are: what methodology is used and how useful is for the agencies. Is It helps organizations to adopt the methodology to take advantage of the science of Project Management and E-Government; The results of survey give us the answers of further improving the implementation of the project management methodology.
