Abstract

The article is devoted to the publication of the 9th edition of the Philosophical Dictionary. It is noted that 80 years have passed since the first edition (1939), and the dictionary, on the one hand, has undergone significant changes, on the other hand, it has preserved the best traditions of the national philosophical school. The “Philosophical Dictionary” is not just a navigator on the world philosophical thought, it is a kind of face of our national philosophy, created by several generations of philosophers (pre-revolutionary, Soviet and post-Soviet formation). The authors of the articles are recognized experts in their field, very often they are the classics of our philosophical thought. A characteristic feature of the dictionary is the combination of a high theoretical level with an accessible, clear presentation of the material. World philosophy is traditionally presented in the dictionary in the form of philosophical directions (on theoretical, methodological and subject grounds), terms and personalities, which provided a multifaceted analysis of philosophical problems. The historical and philosophical material is characterized by completeness, attention is paid to both the philosophy of the past and the latest philosophical trends and schools. The peculiarity of the publication is that it presents articles on philosophies of many cultural regions and countries. The trend of the latest editions of the dictionary is an increase in the volume of articles on Russian philosophy. This is caused by the increased interest in it. Moreover, the world philosophy presented by our authors is one of the forms of Russian philosophy. The interpretation of problems, studies, names presented in world philosophy is the face, the essence of our fatherly philosophical school.
