Abstract

The article is devoted to studying linguistic means expressing the category of time in the Russian and Chinese languages. The author examines the existing classifications of temporal units in the analysed languages, identifies correlations of temporal units and linguistic means by which they are expressed. By the example of the newspaper discourse, the paper reveals the peculiarities of functioning of linguistic means expressing the category of time in the Russian and Chinese languages, describes similarities and differences and explains their causes. The study addresses students, postgraduate philological students, teachers of Russian as a foreign language and linguists.
