Abstract

Three patients with malignant lymphoma involving the epidural space with spinal cord compression or cauda equina compression were presented. The level and the extent of the tumor were demonstrated by myelogram, magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography. After laminectomy with decompression radiotherapy and chemotherapy were given. The pathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of the diffuse type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Their neurological symptoms due to epidural tumors improved soon after the operation, though MRI showed recurrence in a 42-year-old man at 4 years after the operation and CT showed the brain involvement in an 18-year-old girl at 7 months after the operation. MRI showed no recurrence in a 52-year-old woman at 1 year and 4 months after the operation.
