Abstract

To effectively reduce industrial accidents, workplaces must be encouraged to undertake safety initiatives independently and establish a strong safety culture. This study introduces leading indicators and a safety culture model developed to assess the safety awareness levels among workplace members. By diagnosing these levels, it becomes possible to promote activities in areas where safety awareness is lacking. Additionally, areas with significant perception differences among members can be improved by investigating the underlying causes. Establishing a safety culture in the workplace necessitates the promotion of improvement activities based on diagnostic results. This study proposed several tasks to raise safety awareness in workplaces. These tasks include activating safety culture diagnosis in connection with the corporate self-regulation system, introducing a safety culture grade certification system, training private experts, supporting workplace consulting, and discovering and disseminating best practices.
