Abstract

We define "Ro-space" as a general term to represent subsidiary to buildings or rooms. In Chinese classical garden, various significant numbers of Ro-spaces are developed. Our research demonstrates that Ro-space does not only reside in passage, but hosts various actions: enjoying scenery, taking rests, making a conversation and so forth. These actions are led by such Ro-space as the one which provides a pan-oramic view of the main garden near a pond, or the one which deliver a hiding place in secondary circulation. Varieties of actions concerning scenery are also observed by the appearing broadness after passing through the narrowness of Ro-space.
