Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that one of the most important sources of introducing students to figurative and expressive foreign language speech is the phraseological fund. The phraseological fund of the language seems to be one of the most interesting and productive objects, clearly and vividly demonstrating national and cultural traditions, values, and features of world outlook, as well as the role of intercultural communicationin the modern world is rapidly increasing. The aim of the research is to substantiate and determine the role and methodological significance of phraseological units, i.e. the use of proverbs and sayings in the process of teaching English at different levels of secondary education in order to form intercultural communicative competence of students. Developed and tested a set of exercises on the use of proverbs and sayings in the process of learning English. The results of the study can be used directly in the educational process of teaching English at schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. The research materials can be used in the development of curricula, and teaching aids for teaching English.
