Abstract

In modern conditions, the development of countries is entering a new stage of development, a distinctive feature of which is the formation of an economy in which intellectual capital becomes the main capital. The formation of the foundations of innovation theory developed within the framework of theories about the wave, oscillatory development of systems. The theoretical basis for research in the field of innovative development is the development of the Russian scientist N.D. Kondratiev, who laid the foundations of the general theory of innovation and discovered the theory of long waves. The theory considers the economic and technological fields of activity, and also has a great influence on the whole life of people. According to economists, the increase in total knowledge provides 60-80 % of the increase in national income. Orientation towards an innovative development path is relevant for the economy of any country. Innovative activity is interconnected with the quality of life of Russians. This article discusses the innovative activity, both in Russia and the world as a whole. Trends in the development of innovative activity of countries as a whole, changes in the structure of innovative activities are revealed, changes in positions, the level of activity of developing countries in the global innovation index are shown. An assessment of the world practice of implementing the innovation process is given. The analysis of the innovative activity of the Russian Federation in modern conditions is carried out and an assessment of the results over the past five years is given based on a comparison with the indicators of economically developed countries. The opinions of experts on the reasons for the current situation and ways to increase the innovative activity of the Russian Federation are presented. The characteristic of innovation activity in the country is determined by many different factors. Indicators of innovative activity are characterized by low indicators, a decrease in innovative activity, in the presence of prerequisites for the formation of an innovative model for the development of the modern economy. An important factor is a fundamentally new level of interaction between the state and technology entrepreneurs and companies, start-ups, large and medium-sized businesses, attracting foreign companies with advanced technologies, developing completely new competencies, promising projects, and stimulating innovative processes.
