Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the work satisfaction of married working females on the compatibility of work and family life, focusing especially on the mediation effect of a married couple's intimacy. To prove the mediated regression analysis and study model, this study used the data collected in the 7th Female and Family Panel in 2018 which was organized by the Korea Female Policy Institute. From this investigation, it has been found that there is a significant difference among the work satisfaction, married couple's intimacy, and compatibility of work and family life according to married working female's age. In general, work satisfaction is high in older age. Also, the educational background of married working females may cause a significant difference in work satisfaction, married couple's intimacy, and compatibility of work and family life. Work satisfaction is higher with lower educational background. On the other hand, married couple's intimacy and compatibility of work and family life are higher with higher educational background. There is also a significant difference in work satisfaction, married couple's intimacy, and compatibility of work and family life according to their husbands' educational background. Second, it has been found that the work satisfaction of married working females affects the compatibility of work and family life; as their work satisfactions are higher, while conflict with the compatibility of work and family life are less. Third, the work satisfaction of married working females positively affects the compatibility of work and family life. There is a mediated effect of a married couple's intimacy on the compatibility of work and family life.
