Abstract

Objective : This study was intended to investigate the effect of professional identity of occupational therapist on the job commitment and organizational commitment. Methods : From March 1, 2020 to March 24, 2020, a survey was conducted on occupational identity, job commitment, and organizational commitment to 145 occupational therapists. The general characteristics, professional identity, job commitment and organizational commitment were examined using a frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were presented. And used the Pearson correlation coefficient to see whether there was a correlation between professional identity, job commitment and organizational commitment. To find what factors have and effect on job commitment and organizational commitment, we also conducted a multiple regression analysis. Results : The results were as follows. First, The average professional identity was 2.03±.22. Second, the final education and organization type of general characteristics of the subjects were significantly different in the professional identity(p<.05). The final education of general characteristics of the subjects were significantly different in the job commitment(p<.05). Third, all sub-factors of professional identity showed a positive(+) correlation with job commitment and organizational commitment(p<.01). Fourth, The higher the vocational consciousness of the profession and the utilization of professional organizations, the higher the job commitment and organizational commitment. Conclusions : It was confirmed that professional identity of occupational therapists was an important factor affecting job commitment and organizational commitment.
