Abstract

Meningococcal infection is an actual problem for modern healthcare. Currently, there is an increase in cases of meningococcal infection in our country. The true incidence of rare forms remains unknown, since nosology data are extremely rarely diagnosed. The non-specificity of symptoms, the lack of alertness of clinicians and the need for complex diagnostic methods create prerequisites for making an incorrect diagnosis and can contribute to the epidemic spread of infection. This article presents the main features of the pathogenesis, clinical symptoms and diagnosis of one of the rare forms of meningococcal infection, meningococcal pneumonia, and raises questions about the updating of algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of this nosology. Key words: menningococcal infection, meningococcal pneumonia, rare forms
