Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the global citizenship education(GCE) teaching experience and perception of special education teachers, and to examine whether there was a difference in the level of understanding of GCE according to the general characteristics and GCE teaching experience of special education teachers. Methods: This study utilized a survey that examined 500 special education teachers' teaching experiences and perceptions of GCE. The analysis methods used were and an independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA as JAMOVI program. Results: As a result of the study, there are differences in the understanding of GCE according to the general characteristics of special education teachers(gender, teaching career, type of student disability (developmental disability, sensory disability), overseas stay experience, multicultural student teaching experience, and participating in training about GCE). In addition, there was a difference in the understanding of GCE was noted according to the experience of teaching GCE(experience in teaching GCE for special education students, and difficulties in teaching special education students). Conclusion: Based on these results, special educational implications for GCE were presented.
