Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the resources of the discipline “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” for fostering a sense of belonging among student youth to the Russian state-civilization. The work reveals the essence of the concept of Russian identity and determines the basis for strengthening it among student youth. The scientific novelty lies in describing educational technologies and mechanisms for strengthening Russian civilizational identity among university students, developed during the classes in the analyzed discipline at the North Caucasus Federal University. As a result of the research, it is proven that the study of the discipline contributes to the development of all structural components of Russian identity through a competency-based approach. The importance of interactive teaching methods in shaping the emotional and behavioral levels of students’ awareness of their belonging to Russia as a state, as a society, and as a civilization is emphasized. The role of traditional lectures and practical exercises in shaping the cognitive component of Russian identity, which is basic and without which the development of other elements of its structure is impossible, is outlined.
