Abstract
Since the birth of human civilisation, the problem of accumulation, processing and transfer of knowledge and practical competences from one generation to the next has become more and more urgent. Material existence, when types of tangible and intangible goods and ways to obtain them mainly in the form of goods multiply, necessarily implies the development of economic science and the need for personnel capable of managing and servicing this aspect of life. The purpose of the study was to reveal the preconditions that influenced the essential change in the system of economic training, the regularities of institutional transformations of the educational process depending on the goals facing society at different stages of its socio-economic development. The authors used a historical approach to the subject of the study, which allows assessing the past mistakes and achievements in the course of economic education reforms and their impact on society. The main results are based on the generalisation of the historical stages of formation and development of the national education system, determination of the value properties of its transformation for the future.
