Abstract

The Knudsen cell mass spectrometer combination was used to determine the activity coefficient of sulfur dissolved in liquid iron. The ion current ratios of dimeric vapor specy of sulfur and monomeric vapor specy of iron were measured as a function of temperature and composition, and the activity coefficients and the interaction parameters were calculated using a modified form of the Gibbs-Duhem equation. The results were represented by the following equation:e(s) s=-225/T+0.0704
