Abstract

Contemporary Taiwanese aboriginal literature which began in the 1980s induced a lot of speculation in diverse categories such as society, history, ideology and aesthetics with abundant texts it has published. Taiwanese aboriginal literature was selected as the most heated topic since the debate on the nativist literature. In the 1980s, Taiwanese aboriginal literature created an identity of ‘pan-indigenous identity’ using the strategy of ‘pan-indigenous collective action’, and resisted and negotiated with the mainstream society. For this reason, studies on Taiwanese aboriginal literature so far saw the whole aboriginal literature as a homogeneous matter. However, the aborigines are consisted of 16 different peoples. These peoples differ greatly in their cultures and do not share their identities. Based on this fact, this paper chose the works of the most representative wirters of the Bunon tribe, Toubasi Tamapima, Husluman Vava, and Neqou Soqluman, as the objects of study. The study results showed that these writers were expressing aspects of succession and conversation in the reconstruction and recreation of the traditional culture elements of the Bunun tribe. Also, regarding the topics of the Diaspora phenomenon and the desire to return, the writers appealed to adopt an inclusive attitude, to have good faith in ethnic groups and understand them. In the process, the writers took a multifarious point of view and showed cultural differences between ethnic groups.
