Abstract

This article deals with aviation English vocabulary in stylistic aspect. Neutral vocabulary is identified; particular attention is paid to terminological words and word combinations; expressive language means such as conversation vocabulary, slang and professional jargon are defined as well. The author provides examples of taboo words and comes to the conclusion that using these lexical means is untypical in aviation English. The paper represents a stylistic classification of aviation English vocabulary for the first time in spite of a great deal of works devoted to studying vocabulary in stylistic aspect.
