Abstract
The article presents the results of a study of the standard of living of students of the Siberian Federal University conducted in the period from 2018 to 2022. Research tools and methods. The study uses quantitative and qualitative methods. We conducted surveys, but found out that respondents strongly distort information. The quantitative study involved about 80 people who performed measurements of their income and expenses for several months during their full-time studies in bachelor’s and specialty programs. Among the respondents there was 1 foreign student and 1 student with inclusion requirements. In addition, we received personal data on the composition of families, sources of income and types of expenses of the study participants. To obtain personal data, we have proposed a special legal model that allows us to collect reliable data, but show them without personal metrics. We compared the income of students with the «subsistence minimum» indicator in order to establish the number of students in poverty status. In addition, we compared the income and earning opportunities of students between faculties. Sampling methods show the possibilities of extrapolating data to extended youth groups in the region when developing public programs.
