Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine factors that affect the satisfaction with life in Korea among young migrant workers living alone. To do this, this study used the 2022 Survey on Immigrant’s Living Conditions and Labour Force data conducted by Statistics Korea and Ministry of Justice. The sample consisted of 2,138 young migrant worker living alone between the ages of 15 and 39. The data were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using the SPSS 26.0 statistical program. The main results of this study are as follows: First, satisfaction with life in Korea was correlated with Korean language proficiency level, subjective health status, discrimination experience, and crisis helper. Second, ultimately factors affecting life satisfaction in Korea included subjective health status, experience discrimination, and crisis helper, excluding Korean language proficiency level. Based on those study results, this study discussed practical and policy implications for enhancing the satisfaction with life in Korea among young migrant workers living alone.
