Abstract

Therapeutic communication refers to the process by which the health professional consciously influences a client or helps them to better understand a situation through verbal or non-verbal communication. Therapeutic alliance involves interpersonal communication between the patient and the health professional. This alliance is intended to help the patient. Both presuppose empathy, that is, the ability to understand and share other people's feelings. In physiotherapy, although little is known, the therapeutic relationship is part of various models of practice, indicating its importance in shaping appropriate care. When communication is lost or distorted, then the healing alliance breaks and the therapeutic impasse ensues. The purpose of this study was to study the interventions in the rupture of the therapeutic alliance and the therapeutic impasse in all medical operations with emphasis on physiotherapy care. The results show that there are limited interventions, and for this reason, more studies are needed, especially in the field of physiotherapy.
