Abstract

The recovery of economy of Ukraine today and the prospects for its development in the post-war period depend on the attraction of investment resources in high-tech industrial enterprises, and the formation of innovative, competitive industrial enterprises capable not only of increasing economic potentialof the country, but also of ensuring the increase in the employment level due to the creation of new jobs, reducing the outflow of qualified labor, having a positive effect on increasing the general level of income, and therefore consumption, which activates the activity in all related industries and types of activities.The mentioned aspects give rise to numerous innovation risks, the impact of which can significantly affect the performance of industrial enterprises, especially high-tech ones, in a negative sense.Given this, the relevance of the chosen topic of research does not cause doubt and objections.The purpose of the article is to study the essence of innovation risks of high-tech industrial enterprises, identify risk-forming factors and probable consequences of their manifestation.In the course of achieving the set goal, the essence and characteristics defining a high-tech industrial enterprise were clarified, and the main advantages and disadvantages of such enterprises were singled out and characterized. In our opinion, the key adavnatages of high-tech enterprises are:high level of knowledge-intensive products; dominance of high-tech intermediate products in the composition of the final product; use of high-tech processes; automation of most operations of the production process, high innovativeness; high level of competitive, economic and other types of potential;possibility of expanding market niches and implementing integration processes. The main disadvantages include the fact that spending on knowledge-intensive products for a long time increases its cost price; the need for large capital investments increases the value added, enterprises have difficultiesin attracting investment resources, etc.The essence of innovation risks as an economic category was investigated, and the author’s definition of this concept was formulated. In our opinion, the innovation risk of a high-tech industrial enterprise should be understood as the probability of the enterprise losing profit/income/capital as aresult of implementation of all types of activities (operational, financial and investment) that are based on the development/attraction/use of new equipment and technology, innovative products and services, new methods, methodics and procedures of their implementation. Innovation risks were considered from the pont of view of the participants of the innovation process, and the following types of innovation risks were highlighted, namely: risks of innovations developers, risks of innovations producers, risks of investors, risks of suppliers, risks of intermediaries, risks of consumers, risks connected with competitors, risks of society. For each type of innovation risks, the subtypes of innovation risks were identified and characterized.
