Abstract
The article examines the neolexemes extensively transmitted into the Russian language system from English and displaying foreign-language semantic influence. The purpose of the paper is to identify mechanisms of semantic calquing, to reveal its functional significance for the modern Russian language system. Scientific novelty of the work lies in identifying different vectors in semantic dynamics inside the process of lexical calquing itself, as well as in the aspect of inter-level connections. As a result, it was found that a trend of intra-linguistic nature is actualised under contact influence of the languages since semantic calquing usually brings about qualitative transformations of the lexical subsystem.
